Persyst is the worldwide leader in EEG software.   Our software is used daily by thousands of neurologists at hundreds of hospitals around the world.  We have pioneered the use of digital signal processing and neural networks in order to remove artifacts and interpret EEG data.  Now we are looking for team members to help develop the next generation of tools with the ultimate goal of replacing the routine human interpretation of EEG data.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER - San Diego, CA

As Senior Software Engineer, you will be an essential member of our team responsible for designing and developing software including new features, new products, and improvements to existing products.  May perform as Lead Software Engineer for some projects, and will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Develops software in C++ and C# for Persyst products and/or applications consistently following Persyst’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes.

·         Experience with Windows desktop software and with Microsoft Visual Studio is a requirement.

·         Utilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process.

·         Creates and executes designs for new functionality as part of a software project.

·         Collaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.

·         Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques.

·         Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems

·         Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, and offer suggestions to improve processes.

·         Works collaboratively and professionally with other Persyst employees in cross functional teams to achieve goals.

·         Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion.

·         Review product and/or application information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracy.

·         Participate in product and/or application definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs.

·         Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience:

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics or a technical field (such as CIS or IT).

·         A minimum of 5 (five) years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

·         Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·         Demonstrates proficient knowledge and utilization of engineering tools necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of this job description).

·         Must demonstrate proficiency and possess experience necessary to develop moderately complex desktop software in C++ and C#.

·         Extensive knowledge with Windows desktop software and with Microsoft Visual Studio is required.

·         Demonstrates mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers).

·         Must demonstrate proficient ability to capture and document software requirements and specifications.

·         Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

·         Self-motivated team player that works well under pressure and independently.

COMPUTATIONAL SCIENTIST - San Diego, CA

This position will report directly to the Chief Scientist. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Design and develop the next generation of recognition technology for the clinical EEG market. The challenges include recognizing, spikes, seizures, sleep stages, and epileptiform activity associated with the intensive care unit. 

-  Other artifacts, malignant and non-malignant patterns need to be interpreted. 
The long-term goal is to rival human interpretation of EEG recordings in adults, children and neonates.  

Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience: 

- The candidate must have an advanced degree in mathematics, physics, or a similar field from an accredited university. 

- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

-  Candidate should be an experienced software developer working in areas where signal must be interpreted from noise.

-  Experience with digital signal processing, machine learning/neural networks.

-  Experience with code development.

-  Ability to take direction and seek assistance when needed.

-  Excellent analytical skills.

-  High level of initiative with ability to self-manage.

-  Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

-  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

PhD.
Experience working in biomedical environments is preferred, but not required.
Prior software experience in a product development environment.
