Scott B. Wilson

Chairman and Chief Scientist

Scott Wilson founded Persyst in 1987. He has published peer-reviewed papers in the fields of chemistry, physics and computer science, and he has been the principal investigator on six Small Business Innovation Research grants received by Persyst. Inventions include a novel neural network models, time domain analysis methods and the PressOn™ EEG electrode.

In 1981 Scott graduated from UCSD at the top of his physics class with high departmental honors and a minor in mathematics. During this time he started, recruited and coached UCSD’s Ultimate Frisbee team. While working at the Rockwell Science Center as a computational physicist in 1985 he received his Master in Science from UCLA in Computer Science with a specialization in artificial intelligence and expert systems. Nicolas Nierenberg

Chief Executive Officer

Nicolas Nierenberg became CEO of Persyst in January 2011.

Mr. Nierenberg has more than thirty years of experience leading entrepreneurial high technology companies. He is the founder and former CEO of two public companies Actuate and Unify (now Daegis), and still serves as the Chairman and Chief Technology Officer at Actuate.

Mr. Nierenberg is also the founder of Awarepoint which is the leader in providing workflow automation and tracking solutions to the acute care hospital marketplace.

Mr. Nierenberg has served on numerous other private and public company boards, and is currently a board member of the Sanford-Burnham Institute for Medical Research. Hide

Mark L. Scheuer, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Mark L. Scheuer, MD joined Persyst in October of 2006 as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Scheuer is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.

Dr. Scheuer’s research interests include near real-time brain function monitoring technology, automated seizure and spike detection, new EEG analysis techniques, and antiepileptic drug pharmacology. He has been the principal investigator in several phase III trials of investigational antiepileptic drugs and has conducted studies of antiepileptic drug pharmacokinetics.

Prior to joining Persyst, Dr. Scheuer was the Director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Epilepsy Center and their Neurology Residency Training Program. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Columbia University, where he also served as the Director of the Clinical Epilepsy Program at the Columbia Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.

Dr. Scheuer graduated from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, did his internal medicine internship at Pennsylvania State University’s Hershey Medical Center, and completed residency in adult neurology at the Neurological Institute of New York where he served as Chief Resident. During his fellowship at the University of Virginia, Dr. Scheuer was named Merritt-Putnam Clinical Research Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society. Hide

Michael J. Guess

Vice President, Research and Clinical Applications

Michael J. Guess is VP of Research and Clinical Applications, and he joined Persyst Development Corporation in 1998. He has over 30 years of experience in medical instrumentation and accessories, and has an in-depth knowledge of EEG acquisition and review systems, physiological and critical-care monitoring systems, emergency/first responder equipment, therapeutic and surgical equipment, radiological imaging devices, and clinical laboratory instrumentation. Mike has focused his efforts in the field of neurodiagnostics for the last 24 years. Prior to joining Persyst in 1998 he served as EEG Product Manager for TECA Corporation through the development of their Motorola/VME workstation-based DG Examiner and DG Discovery, to their first Windows-based EEG system introduced in 1997. Mike is an honor graduate of the USAF School of Healthcare Sciences' Biomedical Engineering program and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Thomas Edison State University in Biomedical Electronics. Michael has resided in Prescott, Arizona for the last 19 years, and enjoys exploring our great outdoors with his family. Hide

Andrey Pirozhenko

Vice President, Software Development

Andrey Pirozhenko joined Persyst in 2007 to manage the Persyst product development team. With over 20 years of experience, Andrey leads software development, quality assurance and integration of the Persyst EEG suite with the leading EEG manufacturers.

Prior to joining Persyst, Andrey was the Team Lead at Life Technologies where he supervised engineers in the development of dynamic microarray analysis tools. Prior to Life Technologies, he was the Senior Software Engineer at MBN in Moscow where he developed NeuroWork, an evoked potential recording and analysis application. Andrey received his Masters of Science degree in Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He enjoys the San Diego sun by spending time with his wife and son playing tennis, windsurfing and traveling. Hide

Vice President, Quality and Regulatory Affairs

Dari Darabbeigi oversees the implementation of regulatory and quality management systems for products and operations activities across Persyst. Dari brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the medical device industry in areas of quality systems, regulatory affairs, research and development, operations and business development. Prior to Persyst, Dari served as the Senior Vice President and the Chief Operating Officer of MediVas, a company that used its polymer technology platform for the delivery of drugs and biologics. Before joining MediVas, he was Director of Research and Development for JOMED Inc., a Swiss-based company that developed and manufactured products for interventional cardiology, radiology and minimally invasive vascular surgery.

Dari received his biomedical engineering degree from University of California San Diego (UCSD), Jacobs School of Engineering, and additional professional and specialized certificates on Regulatory Affairs and Quality System for the Biomedical Industry from UCSD. Dari has resided in San Diego, California for the past 26 years; when he is not working, he likes to travel gaining experience with new cultures, meeting new people and seeing more of the world.

Pam Chillinsky
Pam Chillinsky
Director of Finance & Administration

Pam Chillinsky joined Persyst in 2011 and manages the day to day operations, including Finance & Administration, Human Resources & Facilities. Within Pam’s 20 year career, 16 years have been working within the software & bio-tech industries in San Diego. Pam has a richly diverse background having worked for both large public & privately held companies, start-up & emerging high-tech firms.

Prior to joining Persyst, Pam was the Director of Administration for ALSP, Inc., a bio-tech firm developing a new drug for treating Alzheimer’s –funded by NIH government grants. There, she managed the cost accounting for all grant awards, yearly audits and day to day operations. Pam has also held Director level positions at Eyespot Corp., Keylime Software (now Yahoo) and HNC Software (now FICO).

Pam attended the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and adores living in San Diego with her husband and two daughters. Pam loves cooking, camping, skiing and travelling to Mexico & Kauai to visit family. Hide

David Lorber
David Lorber
Vice President, Customer Service

David Lorber manages training, support, operations, and production. David's experience spans customer support, sales, data analytics, product management, and research. Prior to joining Persyst, David co-founded and served as Chief Customer Officer for a SaaS provider of optimized private social networks. David has also led partnership efforts in the clinical diagnostics space, launched life sciences software products in U.S., European, and Asian markets.

David received his Ph.D. from the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience program. His research, funded by NSF, NIH, and industry grants focused on computational methods for pharmaceutical design. He received his MBA as part of the inaugural class of the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego and his bachelor of science degree in Chemistry from Illinois State University. Originally from Illinois, David now resides in San Diego and enjoys the outdoors, photography, and traveling. Hide
